AT&T Still Not Ready To Offer Tethering
Mac|Life —
With the AT&T-VoIP decision, we thought the company was finally
opening its cold heart to innovation, but they still won't be offering
a tethering option anytime soon. The Wall Street Journal went searching for answers to the age-old question of when we might see tethering on the iPhone. After all, iPhone OS 3.0 supports tethering and a few carriers around the world support it, but not AT&T in the U.S. In somewhat of a reused statement, AT&T told WSJ, "Whenever we offer new features, we want to offer the best possible
customer experience. For tethering, we need to do some additional ...

We know tethering works on AT&T's network because frankly, we've been doing it using only Apple's software since the iPhone 3.0 betas have been out (and before using PDAnet). To stay tethering, all we've had to do is not update to 3.1 - which isn't that easy.
Tethering is really handy when travelling (or as a home backup when the cable/DSL is out) and works well on USB and slightly less so over Bluetooth, so long as AT&T has service ...
AT&T Removes All Remaining Doubt: No Tethering This Year
TheAppleBlog —
It seems AT&T is on a quest to cause as much damage as possible to the already flaky reputation it has with its iPhone customers. In an oddly confrontational email to 9to5 Mac, a spokesman for the communications company took issue with one of their recent articles that said AT&T would be delivering tethering services to iPhone customers by ...

It's fortunate that there are other options for tethering to your iPhone, because AT&T has made it clear that they are not going to provide one anytime soon. While they have been pushing tethering to Blackberry users, the carrier has been reluctant to commit to anything for its "Hummer ...
