Keynote predictions scorecard by on January 6th, 2009 at 6:11 PM The Macworld Expo keynote is over. How well did I do with my last minute predictions ? Not very well. I started off with a bang, nailing that new versions of iLife and iWork would be the initial announcements at the Expo. From there, I quickly headed downhill. There was no preview of Mac OS X 10.6. Much worse, none of the hardware that I had anticipated showed up. No Mac mini, no new iMacs or Mac Pros. Instead, the lone hardware introduction was one that i did not predict: a 17" MacBook Pro. The most notable new feature in 3.0 is the inclusion of push notifications for all account types. Additionally, the interface has been updated, scrolling speed has been improved (thanks to atebits), and various other tweaks and additions have been stuck in there.
Oh, and one more thing. Just for you guys, here's a video ...

Are Push Notifications Better Than Background Apps?
jkOnTheRun —
When Apple announced its push notifications for mobile software titles, I was skeptical. That’s not surprising, because I was raised in a multitasking world. In that world, you just run multiple apps at the same time and flip around from one bit of software to another. It’s the world that we all live in today with our computers. But the mobile world isn’t the same as the desktop world. Running multiple applications can hit the CPU and radios harder on our handsets, which, in turn, use more battery power.
So Apple’s idea is to manage software events on its servers and ...
