Apple’s new In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic are now available for order from the Apple Store online. Announced during Apple’s Let’s Rock event in September, the new headphones offer dual drivers, and an in-line control capsule that offers volume, play/pause, and next/previous track controls, as well as an integrated microphone. The In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic sell for $79. As in years past, Apple has posted a special section of the iTunes store dedicated to the top media of 2008. Both top sellers and editor top picks are listed for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, music videos, audiobooks, and, for the first time, both paid and free ...
Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes impresses as an iPhone shooter
The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) —
Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Gaming, Odds and ends, Software Update, iPhone, App Store, iPod touch Here we go -- Doom on the jailbreak aside, the iPhone hasn't really had a nice example of shooter gameplay, though Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes (iTunes link) seems like it might be the breakout. It's made by Gameloft, who've been making mobile games for a while now, but the good news is that it doesn't look like a mobile game at all. The graphics are 3D and vibrant, and the sounds are very impressive. ...

... the same realistic rolling physics of the regular MotionX poker, but now, you're gambling against Egyptian gods as you work your way adventure style through ancient temples along the Nile. I've heard Horus deals a mean hand of Texas hold 'em and Anuket spares no one in the afterlife should they lose, so the stakes here are high. $3 for a limited time, then it's $5. There is also a Lite version for free. Brothers In Arms: Hour of Heroes: We've been playing a lot of Call of Duty on our 103-inch screen ...
Brothers In Arms for iPhone/iPod Touch
TheAppleBlog —
In the course of playing and reviewing a number of iPhone games, I realize I’ve come to expect, and even allow for, certain shortcomings. I expect lag in a graphics-intensive game. I expect buggy controls that feel less than intuitive. I expect omissions that are promised to be fulfilled in later updates. All of which is why Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes ($9.99) caught me off guard. The new shooter from the prolific gameloft (iDP) studio is a polished, pleasurable gaming experience that lacks a lot of the usual iPhone platform caveats users have unfortunately learned to live with.
The game belongs to the Brothers in Arms franchise, which ...
What Apple can teach Nintendo and Sony
Macworld —
by Darren Gladstone , PC World Editor’s Note: The following is reprinted from the Casual Friday blog at PCWorld.com . Nintendo, Sony: Let’s talk for a sec—just you and me. Look, guys, over the past couple of years, you’ve had a great run. Nintendo, your DS has tons of games, a wide variety of unique stuff that’s a blast to play. Sony, your PSP is a gadget-lover’s gaming tool, with everything from Skype to Internet-radio support (oh, yeah, and you have some cool games, as well). But unless you both do something in 2009, the iPhone and iPod Touch will soon become the top dogs in handheld gaming. Apple, the same folks who have pretty much ...

O'Grady @ 9:56 am Categories: Hardware , Rumor , Games , iPhone Tags: Apple iPhone , Firmware , Games , Personal Technology , Jason D. O'Grady Four core iPhones and firmware 3.0 One of the most interesting rumors I’ve been tracking here at Macworld Expo in San Francisco surrounds the mysterious four-core iPhone . While the current iPhone has (roughly) the processing power of the Sony PSP, an upgraded four core iPhone would slaughter pretty much every portable gaming platform on the market. The other part of the story is ...

O'Grady @ 6:19 pm Categories: Games , iPhone , App Store , iPod touch Tags: Apple iPhone , Apple iTunes , Digital Music , Digital Media , Personal Technology , Consumer Electronics , Jason D. O'Grady What’s on my iPhone A common pastime at Macworld Expo was comparing iPhone apps with friends. You could see people everywhere huddled around their iPhones sharing tips on their latest and greatest app discoveries. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m anything but a gamer, but I loaded up on a few extra games than I’d normally ...

Today’s gaming edition of iPhone Gems is short and relatively sweet: today, we’re briefly covering a mix of brand-new titles and ones that we’ve been playing for a while but haven’t had a chance to write about. [image] All but one of today’s five titles rates in our B range, with Gameloft’s Brothers in Arms standing out as the single most impressive title of the group, though also the most expensive. Read on for the details. [image] 7 Cities TD ...
QuadriPhone-ia? New CPU, Firmware Could Make Uncle Steve's Phone A Killer Game Platform

Here's a "betcha didn't know:" betcha didn't know that, in terms of sheer processing power, your iPhone's about on a par with the Sony PSP. But, of course, that's in addition to all the nifty phone/Web/PDA stuff you can do with it. But what if it had MORE processing power? One of the bigger rumors at MacWorld in Frisco is about a ...
