Touch Arcade —
It had recently come to light that the latest iPhone SDKs have an undocumented class that allows for apps to output its video to Video Out rather than to the screen.
A couple of interesting examples had been produced, but Ars asked Freeverse to modify their Moto Chaser [App Store] game to try using the new feature.
This is the result:
Outputting to video-out resulted in a performance hit, so the TV version of the game can only reach approximately 20 frames ...

Following the discovery of an undocumented iPhone API which allows for the output of video through a Dock Connector-based video cable, Freeverse has created a demo version of its MotoChaser game that runs and displays on a TV. According to Freeverse Producer Bruce Morrison, who found the game ran best on the iPod touch 2G thanks to its faster processor, the game runs at 20 fps (frames per second) through video-out, compared to 26 fps on the device itself, and is “nearly playable,” despite only three hours of development time. A video of the demo in action is ...

Playing with Your iPhone on a Big Screen TV Using Video-Out Feature
Touch Podium —
... that I personally saw, when playing on a larger screen, is that you will more clearly see the smaller details that developers have left out because of the small screen on the iPhone/iPod touch. I’m sure most, if not all of you, noticed that the tires weren’t spinning on the motor bike near the beginning of game play, right? Still, none-the-less, quite impressive, to say the least. I wouldn’t mind this video-out secret, personally.
