NIN Fan iPhone application goes live
9 to 5 Mac - Apple Intelligence —
For those of you who are big Nine Inch Nail fans, one of the most eagerly anticipated (by some) iPhone applications is now at the iTunes Store. While NIN fan doesn't apply to us, we've been hearing a lot of sentiment that all bands should have an application like this.
It wouldn't be too hard for a record label to either buy or replicate this app's functionality and distribute it with their bands' music and other paraphernalia. Yeah, we're sure the record labels will get right on that.

First Look: NIN: Access for iPhone
The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) —
Filed under: iPhone, App Store, First Look, App ReviewEarlier this week Nine Inch Nails released NIN: Access [iTunes link], an official iPhone app for the band's website. Although releasing an official band-branded mobile application isn't an entirely new idea -- Death Cab for Cutie [iTunes link] released an app earlier this year and Snow Patrol [iTunes link] released an interactive booklet for their latest album back in October -- NIN: Access goes a step further by bringing the community experience of the nin.com website into the mobile app. A few weeks ago, Wired previewed the app ...

App Store rejections continue to defy logic with NIN app
Infinite Loop —
The inconsistent manner in which Apple's App Store reviewers apply a provision against "objectionable" content in iPhone apps continues to rear its ugly head. Case in point: this weekend, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor found out that an update to his band's nin: access iPhone application had been rejected on the grounds that it contained a reference to "The Downward Spiral."
Reznor is, to say the least, unhappy with the situation. The app itself contains neither the album "The Downward Spiral," nor the song of the same name. Reznor suspects the rejection might be due to the app giving access to a podcast that ...

Trent Reznor Fumes About Rejected nin access Update
Mac|Life —
Update to fix bugs in the app was rejected Earlier this week, Trent Reznor, the man behind industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, announced via his Twitter account that Apple rejected his update for the incredibly popular nin access iPhone app. The update was to address bugs which caused crashes when international users tried to use the app. However, Apple rejected the update due to 'objectionable' content, which is referencing ' The Downward Spiral ', the 1994 Nine Inch Nails album containing the song 'Closer', which contains explicit language (mainly F-bombs). The app itself does not contain the album or song, but rather linked to a podcast that had ...
