sfsooz seems like a ho-hum presentation. every new thing had been guessed already except for the shake-to-shuffle feature in the new iPod nanos. iTunes 8 sounds pretty cool, as long as the Pandora-style Genius features aren't annoyingly intrusive

... For the first time in a while, I’m not at an Apple product-launch event–I’m at DEMO in San Francisco today, so I’ll miss “Let’s Rock” in San Francisco. (Which probably means it’ll be an especially good one…the last one I missed was the original iPhone launch at Macworld Expo 2007.)

... it’s the thinnest iPod ever! It has returned to the tall/slender form factor. The front is curved glass and the body is curve aluminum. It has an enhanced UI, plus an accelerometer. HUGE! And you can create Genius playlists directly on the nano.

Official: iPhone and iPod touch Software Update 2.1 - Addresses Major Fixes

... they’re listening to customer feedback and the community. Apple’s generally been good at this in the past, we’re glad to see it’s not changing.
The new iPod touch will ship will software version 2.1, included with Nike+iPod and Genius playlists. First generation iPod touch owners will get a free upgrade from software version 2.0.
Updates will be available today.

For those with a current-model iPod touch, the software update is free for those updating from 2.x, and $10 for those upgrading from 1.x.
The new iPod touch models also are more environmentally-friendly, and are constructed with arsenic-free glass and BFR-free, mercury-free, PVC-free, and highly-recyclable components just like the new nano.
