Magic Mouse Torn Apart, Nothing Magical Found Inside [Teardowns]
Gizmodo —
What a bait-and-switch, Apple. You charge a boatload for this fancy new mouse and call it "Magic," yet iFixit's teardown reveals nothing even close to magical—just boatloads of capacitive sensors. Major findings (and we use the word major so loosely we might as well not have bothered): The Magic Mouse uses the Broadcom BCM2042 Bluetooth chip, it's covered in capacitive sensors from the Apple logo on up, and it's hard to break into. Science fails to beat magic once again. [iFixit]

Apple's new Magic Mouse disassembled, with pictures
AppleInsider —
... has a solid acrylic surface on a low-profile body. It lacks any physical buttons or the scroll ball of its predecessor, the Mighty Mouse. Instead, the hardware senses the movement of fingertips across its surface, in a multi-touch fashion much like the technology employed in Apple's iPhone, iPod touch, MacBook and MacBook Pro lines. iFixit's look inside found an aluminum base covered by a smooth multi-touch panel. Inside, the hardware is held together by "copious amounts" of glue. It was disassembled with an iPod opening tool. "The glue didn't want to let go, but we ...
iFixit tears down the Magic Mouse
Macworld —
... in the previous installment, they’ve now put the Magic Mouse under their screwdriver …well, not really, since there are no actual screws used in the construction. Prying apart the glued outer shell reveals a ton of capacitative touch sensors covering the entire mouse and a sizable circuit board equipped with a Broadcom Bluetooth chip. The batteries make up most of the weight of the mouse and the top shell is slightly translucent—which makes me wonder why they didn’t opt to make it backlit, for that extra shiny appeal. Since there is only so much you can do to make a teardown ...
Magic Mouse: Oh my God—it's full of capacitive sensors!
Infinite Loop —
... and call it a day? Oh no—it has vivisected Apple's new Magic Mouse to see just how the "magic" happens. The gang also went ahead and disassembled the 27" iMac that came with it, too. The first thing that iFixit discovered is that Apple really does not want you to take the Magic Mouse apart. The whole thing is held together with some really tough glue instead of screws, or clips, or anything that might make it easier to take apart and put back together. Once apart, though, iFixit verified that the entire top surface is literally covered in capacitive touch sensors—138 in ...
