Support - Discussions - call failed ...
this is just a note to say I spent most of today struggling with the phone service on my 16gig iPhone 3g. Incoming or outgoing, the call would hold for a second or two and then drop and I get a 'call failed' message on my phone. I googled 'iphone call failed' and read on at least one non apple mesage board that users with same issue were handed new phones by their apple store but the AT&T ...

Hope you didn't plan to actually make calls on iPhone 2.0.2
Infinite Loop — [image] Yesterday's release of iPhone 2.0.2 has been mostly welcomed by the ever-critical iPhone-using contingent, but as usual, the firmware is not without its problems. We were able to confirm that the update addresses a few 3G-related issues (but not some of the major 3G problems people are having quite yet), and overall, users are reporting apparent improvements to signal level and the ability to make calls. It's that last part the ability to make calls that is tanking for some other users, however, thanks to the iPhone 2.0.2 update. Originally brought to our attention by the grand poobah of all grand poobahs (at least here at Ars), ...

IPhone 2.0.2 Kills 3G Connectivity For Some Users
Wired: Gadget Lab — A few optimistic iPhone users thought the handset's latest firmware update would wave a magic wand and make 3G problems disappear forever. Instead, for some, 3G connectivity has disappeared altogether, according to an Ars Technica report. Ars's Jacqui Cheng reports that the iPhone 2.0.2 update completely disabled Ars editor in chief Ken Fisher's iPhone 3G from making calls over the 3G network. A few other iPhone users have reported the same issue at the Apple support forum, iPhone Atlas, MacTalk, Engadget and MacRumors. I agree with Cheng that even though this is a small ...

Apple Sued Over Lousy 3G Performance
Mac|Life all RSS Feed — Go wake up the lawyers— Apple is facing a lawsuit over the "defective iPhone 3G," brought by an Alabama resident named Jessica Alena Smith. Smith bought an iPhone 3G but has experienced slower-than-expected data-transfer speeds and "an inordinate amount of dropped calls," according to the complaint, which she hopes will be granted class-action status . It should be noted that Smith lives in Birmingham, which has excellent 3G coverage according to AT&T . map This is AT&T's 3G coverage map for the Birmingham, Alabama, area. This is voice coverage; the map for 3G data coverage looked virtually identical. (Click image to ...
