I have had my iPhone for over a year and never had the troubles I am having now. I have installed dozens of apps and have the same update problem as all of you in this discussion. Now, most of my apps will not work at all! The past week, I have had apps crash and the iPhone would go back to the home screen. A reboot, by holding down the power button until asked to turn off the iPhone would ...

this is just a note to say I
spent most of today struggling with the phone service

Jobs Personally Acknowledges iPhone Third-Party App Bug and Upcoming Fix
TidBITS: Mac News for the Rest of Us —
... A TidBITS reader shared with us today that she received a personal email reply from Jobs concerning an iPhone issue that some people are facing. After updating to the iPhone 2.0 software and iTunes 7.7.1, she was unable to load any third-party applications, and iTunes showed the iPhone's memory as being empty. Subsequent iPhone updates haven't resolved the issue. (For more customer reaction to the problem, see this Apple Support Discussion thread.) ...
Steve Jobs vows iPhone app crash fix for September
AppleInsider —
... reader has received one of Steve Jobs' characteristically brief and rare personal responses, assuring them that his company is aware of the problem and has a solution. "This is a known iPhone bug that is being fixed in the next software update in September," reads the one-line message from the Apple co-founder. The email provides an end date to problems that have become increasingly apparent in Apple's support forums and elsewhere. Many report the iPhone 2.0 firmware suddenly failing to load non-default apps regardless of their nature, briefly loading them before abruptly ...
Steve Jobs says fix for crashing iPhone apps coming in Sept.
Infinite Loop —
Third-party app crashing has been a pain for some iPhone users. AppleInsider is reporting that one of its readers has received one of Steve Jobs's legendary one-line e-mails in response to his complaints of third-party iPhone app crashes. The e-mail reads, simply, "This is a known iPhone bug that is being fixed in the next software update in September." The issue seems to manifest at random and prevents any third-party applications from launching. The issue does not seem to affect all users, but it has generated at least one thread on Apple Discussions with 178 replies. According posts there, neither the 2.0.1 nor this week's 2.0.2 ...
iPhone update for 3G issues; more coming in September?
The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) —
Filed under: Steve Jobs, iPhone Jim Dalrymple at Macworld notes that the iPhone software update from Monday was mostly to handle issues with dropped calls on new iPhone 3G handsets. According to an Associated Press article, the update "improved communication with 3G networks," said Apple spokesperson Jennifer Bowcock.
However, some Macworld commenters are saying the update hasn't helped with dropped calls, even in areas with a strong signal.
What's more, according to an AppleInsider rumor, another update is scheduled for September that addresses an issue where non-default ...
On the iPhone 2.0, a not-so-quiet beta, and pulling a Vista
Infinite Loop —
[image] The iPhone 3G lines have (mostly) dwindled and our screens have collected enough smudges to make anyone with OCD pass out. Now that we've had over a month to spend with all the products Apple released on July 11, and their many, many quirks, we've found ourselves wondering: is iPhone OS 2.0 Apple's Vista? Or worse, Windows ME? We don't have hard numbers (and, knowing Apple, we probably never will), but there is a tremendous amount of rumbling across the web over problems with both the iPhone's software and hardware. Granted, there are plenty of customers out there who are having a great experience, and those lucky devils are probably in the ...
