Fake Steve Jobs Banned From CNBC For Life
Silicon Alley Insider —
Newsweek's Dan Lyons -- "Fake Steve Jobs" -- is banned from CNBC for life because of his appearance on the cable network earlier this evening, we have learned. In a special report about Steve Jobs' stepping down from day-to-day operations at Apple (AAPL), Lyons tells CNBC tech reporter Jim Goldman that he got "punked" by Apple's spin machine for blowing his coverage of Steve's health. The exchange starts at minute 3:33. It's also worth watching the beginning, where Jim somehow argues that his reporting was spot on. (If the video has been removed, Gizmodo has it here). ...
Apple and CEO Steve Jobs Entangled in Endless Speculation
MacBlogz - One Stop Apple News —
After dropping a bombshell on the technology industry, Apple and CEO Steve Jobs have been entangled in endless speculation from all angles. Unfortunately, the way Apple is handling the situation is feeding into the negative spin being put on it by the media.
“As an Apple fan, I only want to see Steve come back for the better. As a human being, I could care less about Apple’s products and want to see Jobs focus on his health above all else. But as an Apple shareholder, I can’t help but feel lied to.”
Early Wednesday afternoon, Apple CEO Steve Jobs released a ...

CNBC Bans Dan "Fake Steve Jobs" Lyons
Gearlog —
CNBC looked like an angry version of The Brady Bunch the other night, with five talking heads in boxes, berating one another. The source of the contention? Was it the economic collapse or the situation in Gaza? Nope. It was the state of Apple head Steve Jobs's health.
One of said angry heads was Newsweek's Dan Lyons--that's the former Fake Steve Jobs to you. His frustrated assessment that CNBC's Jim Goldman was "punked" by PR reps at Apple (at around 3:30 in the accompanying video) was enough to get the writer banned for life from the financial network.
Lyons, for his part, was ...

CNBC: Fake Steve Jobs Not Banned
Gearlog —
Things may not be looking up for the real Steve Jobs at moment, but at least his fake, online counterpart, Dan Lyons, can breathe a sigh of relief. Reports from Alley Insider regarding a "lifetime ban" may have been blown slightly out of proportion.
Lyons was reportedly banned for life from the financial network after confronting the station's tech reporter, Jim Goldman, for not reporting anything about Job's health until after he stepped down. Lyons accused Goldman of being "punked" by Apple PR.
We reported the story, citing the blog's report. Soon after, however, we were contacted by NBC ...
Fake Steve has a pretty scathing view of the Apple PR machine
9 to 5 Mac - Apple Intelligence —
Dan "Fake Steve" Lyons has penned a pretty nasty (but in many ways true) piece about the Apple PR Machine:
That's what happened to the poor guy at CNBC. Sure, he got his share of "exclusive" 10-minute spots with Steve Jobs. You can find them on YouTube. They look like training videos for a correspondence course on bootlicking. Now, of course, the CNBC guy says he's outraged. He sputters about how Apple has been irresponsible and "deplorable." His pals at Apple won't care. They're already moving on to the next useful idiot. Among the Silicon Valley press corps there is no shortage of them. ...

chill To many--including the mainstream press--the news that Steve Jobs will be taking a six-month hiatus from Apple in order to concentrate on his health is devastating. The entire world is on the edge of its collective seat wondering what the leader of all things Apple will do next. Will he post his will on Apple's site? Is Apple going to fold up shop? Will all of our iPods, iPhones and Macs suddenly shutdown if Steve gets a cold? The answer to all of those questions is a resounding NO. While the media, analysts and day traders speculate and argue about the proper way Steve should have told us about his medical condition, we're going to be the voice of reason ...
