Qik coming to App Store, just in time for US presidential elections
9 to 5 Mac - Apple Intelligence — As owner of a jailbroken iPhone and very satisfied user of Qik, I have to say that all of you 'unjailbrokens' out there are in for a pleasant surprise.  According to sometimes on (nano) sometimes off (BluRay), Kevin Rose, the deviant little app is on its way to the App Store.  Hopefully they won't have to cripple it too much to get it on there. This little app uses your iPhone's camera to upload live streaming video to Qik's server where onlookers can watch as live events unfold.  Frankly we're not sure why a Stevenote hasn't fallen victem ...

Qik's Live Video Broadcasting iPhone App Could be Coming to the App Store Soon
iPhone Hacks — We have seen some great iPhone apps that are available only for the jailbroken iPhone due to various reasons. Some developers have blamed it on the limitation of iPhone's SDK while others have been forced to release their iPhone apps unofficially because they have been rejected from the App Store . Its a pity as iPhone users who are not so technically inclined are missing out on these apps. However, based on the video posted by Digg's co-founder, Kevin Rose, it appears that at least Qik , the live broadcasting app which was released for jailbroken iPhone could be officially coming to the App Store very soon. ...

Businessweek's Peter Burrows is a bit late to the video iPhone news
9 to 5 Mac - Apple Intelligence — Peter Burrows from Businessweek says (via MR) that video on the iPhone 3 is going to do for video what the original iPod did for mp3s.  We say he's late to the party.  We're not talking April 7th late either (that is when screengrabs showing the video interface were published).  We're talking over a year late. Cycorder and Qik have been on jailbroken iPhones for over a year and have offered up the video recording and broadcasting ability to the broad swath of iPhone users who've jaibroken their iPhones..  Even Ashton Kutcher has been taking videos on his iPhone. Obviously, video ...

Broadcast your own Christmas special via iPhone (just not live)
VentureBeat — The holidays are an ideal time to use your iPhone’s video capability to catch your nephew freaking out over a Wolverine Electronic Battle Claw — or maybe some bad behavior at the office Christmas party. But don’t expect to live stream any of this footage unless your iPhone’s jailbroken. For non-jailbroken phones, true live streaming remains in App-Store limbo — a potential source of major Android envy, since Android phones, including Motorola’s new Droid phone, don’t have the same barrier. But if you are on a non-jailbroken iPhone, there are a couple of services available to ...
