Verizon/Droid ad aimed at iPhone appears
9 to 5 Mac - Apple Intelligence —
As promised, Verizon unveiled an ad in tonight's Yankees-Angels game aimed pretty squarely at the iPhone. It is interesting to remember that the Motorola ROKR had Apple iTunes software on it and Apple was negotiating to put the iPhone on Verizon a mere three years ago.
They also have a website - DroidDoes.com.

Droid Attacks iPhone
Technologizer —
Verizon Wireless, which recently announced it was hopping on the Android smartphone OS bandwagon big time, has started whetting our appetite for its first Android phone. It’s launched a TV ad for the phone, the Droid, and a teaser site. And so far, it’s mostly promoting the phone by bashing the iPhone, with ...
New Verizon Ad Attacks iPhone: Claims Everything iPhone Doesn't Motorola Droid Does
iPhone Hacks —
New Verizon ad for Motorola Droid attacks iPhone We have been writing over the past few weeks about the declining possibility of Verizon selling iPhones anytime in the near future. That possibility is now virtually over with a new Verizon ad promoting the upcoming launch of an Android supported Motorola handset which is pretty much positioned as the anti-iPhone.

Verizon Levels Guns At Apple, Not AT&T, With Droid Phone Blitz [Android]
Gizmodo —
This 30-second Droid spot started airing last night during the ALCS. Dan may not like it, but even so there's no denying that Verizon, in the words of Matt Buchanan, went totally balls in with an Android phone. An Android 2.0 Motorola phone, to be precise, which we'll officially get to see sometime in November. Until then, we can feast on rumors and speculation, revel in the broadside Verizon fired against Apple (not AT&T;, it should be noted), and of course dissect the actual marketing itself, as was done at Daring Fireball: 1. The whole site is Flash. 2. ...
Verizon Bashes iPhone With Lame Android Ad
iPhone Savior —
Verizon has come out swinging wildly at iPhone in their first lame ad pimping the arrival of the Android 2.0 Motorola phone. The ad spends :20 seconds focusing on what looks like a poorly executed Powerpoint presentation that hacks on the limitations of iPhone by ...
Verizon sets it sights on Apple, AT&T in ad campaign
AppleInsider —
By Brian Garner Published: 05:15 PM EST Verizon has upped the ante in its battle verses Apple and AT , airing a series of ads which highlight AT 's lack of 3G coverage, iPhone shortcomings. In a thirty second advertisement which first aired Saturday during the ALCS baseball game, Verizon unveiled a new add targeting the iPhone. The ad, which greatly resembles Apple's stylized spots, listed several of the iPhone's proposed weaknesses when compared to Verizon's new Droid smartphone with the tagline "iDon't." No real details about the Droid phone were presented in the spot, instead viewers were directed to a website where email ...
Verizon Attacks iPhone With “Droid”
TheAppleBlog —
Over the weekend, Verizon launched its second attack against the iPhone, a condescending teaser for an upcoming Android-based phone, Droid. However, unlike the first ad, which rightfully attacked AT&T’s anemic network coverage and dependability, the Droid ad goes after the iPhone.
According to Verizon, the iPhone ...

New Verizon Droid ad aims at iPhone
Macworld —
Posted on by Seth Weintraub , Computerworld You’ve probably seen the ad if you were watching sports at all this weekend but in case you haven’t, I’ve put it below. Inconsistent apostrophes included. This device is widely rumored to be the Motorola Sholes/Tao with an amazing 480 x 854 pixel screen and would be the first device running Android 2.0. ( Boy Genius Report has a review and an image gallery of the Motorola Droid . It looks really impressive.) This sounds like a great device and some much needed competition for the iPhone…but there are a few caveats. The commercial lists some ...
Better Stop Holding Your Breath for a Verizon iPhone
Digital Daily —
If Verizon is in talks with Apple to become the second U.S. carrier for the iPhone, they evidently aren’t going very well. How else to explain this iPhone-slagging ad campaign for Verizon’s forthcoming Android handset, Droid (click on video below).
“iDon’t have a real keyboard
iDon’t run simultaneous apps
iDon’t take night shots
iDon’t allow open development
iDon’t customize
iDon’t run widgets
iDon’t have interchangeable batteries
Everything iDon’t

Tim Cook: Competitors Are Still Catching Up To First iPhone
Cult of Mac —
Tim Cook: Competitors Are Still Catching Up To First iPhone 5:54 pm, October 19th, 2009, Leander Kahney Apple’s COO Tim Cook says competitors are still trying to catch up with the original iPhone , which was launched more than two years ago. During a conference call discussing today’s Q4 earnings, Cook was asked about competition hotting up for the upcoming holiday season. How will Apple maintain momentum and differentiation?“We feel very confident,” Cook said . “People are still trying to catch up to the original iPhone, and we’ve long since moved past that.” Ouch. Take that Google and Palm. And although it wasn’t mentioned by name, ...
Android bitch-slaps iPhone in new TV adverts
APC —
US carrier Verizon has launched a cheeky but aggressive anti-iPhone advertisement in the lead-up to its introduction of its Android mobile phones, beginning with the Motorola ‘Droid’. Using the simplistic design, typeface and bouncy up-beat music similar to that of an Apple advertisement, the “iDon’t” spot calls up a laundry list of the iPhone’s alleged weaknesses: such as “iDon’t have a real keyboard”, “iDon’t take 5.0 megapixel pictures” and “iDon’t allow open development”. The advert closes (in a rather jarring and unfriendly fashion) with the promise that “everything iDon’t, Droid does”. You can watch the advertisement here: ...
The Other Ads Attacking Apple
Byte of the Apple - BusinessWeek —
Check out the ad below for the Motorola Droid phone, which runs, naturally, Google's Android, and is coming soon to Verizon. I first noticed it on TV last night, though I don't remember what show I was watching.
As my colleague Olga Kharif points out next door on Tech Beat, Craig Moffett of Sanford Bernstein thinks these ads may be a sign that talks may have broken down between Apple and Verizon over CDMA version of the iPhone. He wonders if this may also be Verizon's way of ratcheting up the pressure on Apple. Or maybe Verizon has walked away from the iPhone entirely. That would likely be good news for AT&T;, rumored to be nearing ...
Apple Fans Respond To The "Droid Does" Advertising Campaign
WebProNews Feed —
The Motorola Droid advertising campaign is in full swing, and I'm sure by now you've seen the commercials, if not you can see the commercial below. Basically, the campaign is all about taking digs at the iPhone while showing Motorola's support for the Android OS.
If you're un-familiar with the Droid, it's the first Android-based smartphone that will be sold exclusively by Verizon Wireless. Why is this fact important? Verizon currently has more than 86 million wireless subscribers, and will be the largest wireless carrier to date to support an Android-based device.

Verizon has some more Droid surprises coming
Seth H. Weintraub's blog —
We've been hearing a lot about the Verizon Droid, a re-branded Motorola Sholes (Sholes is the name of the guy who invented the QWERTY keyboard btw) smartphone that has some pretty insane hardware specs and will be the first smartphone to carry the Google 2.0 (Eclair) Software. ...
Droid Does…..What?
Tys iPhone Help.com - The Best iPhone & iPod Touch Site —
If you’ve seen the Droid Dos commercial then you know that this phone is supposed to be better than the iPhone. Now we know that as of right now the iPhone is the BEST phone ever! That’s not a opinion…that’s a fact! The question is though, what would a phone have to have to be better than the iPhone? Well, some of the points that the Droid made referring to be the “Downfall” of an iPhone were Virtual Keyboards, Not running simultaneous apps, Camera quality, Its disability to customize without jailbreaking, not running widgets, not allowing open development, no nighttime photo ...
Review roundup: Motorola Droid, Verizon's first Android handset
AppleInsider —
By AppleInsider Staff Published: 08:25 AM EST Verizon's first Google Android-based handset, the Motorola Droid, has been directly positioned as a competitor to Apple's iPhone. Reviewers have now compared the two to see how they stack up. The Droid officially arrives Friday, sporting a 3.7-inch screen with a width of 843 pixels and a quick TI OMAP 3430 processor. It costs $199 with a two-year contract. The device is slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS, and comes with a physical slide-out keyboard. Verizon and Motorola have targeted the iPhone with an advertising campaign comparing the Droid to the iPhone. With a style and ...
iPhone on Verizon After All?
Mac|Life —
The possibility that Apple might at
long last break its exclusivity with AT&T has been a dream ever
since the iPhone launched. The carrier has developed its own particular
brand of fail with service limitations (MMS, tethering), app
heavy-handedness (reputedly being behind Google Voice getting yanked)
and dropped call records broken daily. Yet publicly both Apple
and AT&T have denied any rumors of a split and Cupertino even gave
the carrier a one year extension. Rumors continued to proliferate that
Apple was ready to jump ship for Verizon or at least to open up the
handset to other carriers. If new leaks are to ...
